23 May, 2025 23:26

Lahore Qalandars powered into the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 final with a dominant 95-run victory over Islamabad United in Eliminator 2 at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

Brilliant half-centuries from Mohammad Naeem and Kusal Perera set the stage, as Qalandars posted a strong total of 202/8 in 20 overs. In reply, United’s star-studded batting lineup collapsed for just 107 runs in 15.1 overs, ending their hopes of defending the PSL title.

Naeem scored a quick 50 off 25 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, while Perera led the charge with a top score of 61 from 35 deliveries. Valuable support came from Bhanuka Rajapaksa (22) and Asif Ali (15).

On the bowling front, Qalandars’ attack was led by skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi, Salman Mirza, and Rishad Hossain, each claiming three wickets. United’s batting crumbled, with only Salman Ali Agha (33) and Shadab Khan (26) reaching double figures.

Islamabad United’s bowlers struggled, with Tymal Mills picking up three wickets but conceding 42 runs. Despite efforts from Salman Irshad, Imad Wasim, and James Neesham, the Qalandars dominated the match.

Qalandars now move on to face Quetta Gladiators in the PSL 10 final, set to take place on Sunday at the same venue. With momentum on their side, the two-time champions look ready to chase a third PSL title.
