30 May, 2025 10:31

Pakistan’s javelin star Arshad Nadeem has successfully qualified for the final round of the javelin throw at the ongoing Asian Athletics Championship in Gumi, South Korea, on Friday.

In the qualifying round, Arshad showcased his world-class skills by delivering a spectacular throw of 86.34 meters on his very first attempt. In comparison, India’s Yash recorded a 76.67-meter throw in his opening attempt.

The highly anticipated javelin final will take place on May 31, where Arshad Nadeem is set to compete with high hopes of securing another major title for Pakistan.

The celebrated athlete rose to global prominence after his participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he stunned the world with a record-breaking throw surpassing 90 meters, making it the sixth-longest throw ever recorded globally.

This incredible performance earned him Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s highest civilian honor. Upon returning to the country, Arshad was met with widespread celebrations nationwide.

Both federal and provincial governments awarded him cash prizes for his historic achievement, and several private organizations also announced additional rewards for the national hero.

However, in a recent interview, the Olympic gold medallist revealed, “while he received some of the promised prizes from government officials the rewards announced by the private organizations remain unfulfilled.”

Arshad’s journey continues to inspire millions, as he prepares for yet another momentous challenge in South Korea.
