RCB IPL win turns tragic: 11 dead in Bengaluru stampede

11 killed in stampede during Indian Premier League (IPL) victory celebration in Bengaluru.

The Indian media reported that women and children were among those killed in the stampede; several people were injured.

One of the deceased at Bowring Hospital was identified as Devyamshi, 14, a resident of Kanur. She had come near the stadium with her mother, younger sister, and other family members to see the RCB victory celebration.

The injured were rushed to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital and Vydehi Hospital.

“It’s most unfortunate, organisers should have planned RCB’s IPL-winning celebrations better,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia on stampede.

“This is negative side of popularity. People are crazy for their cricketers: BCCI on RCB celebrations leading to death of fans.”

However, on Tuesday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB ) won the IPL title for the first time.
