Ireland's Curtis Campher Makes History With 5 Wickets in 5 Balls
Irish all-rounder Curtis Campher has created cricket history by becoming the first male professional cricketer to take five wickets in five balls. This extraordinary achievement took place during a T20 Trophy match between Munster Reds and North-West Warriors in Dublin.
Match-Winning Performance for Munster Reds
Campher’s stunning bowling spell played a crucial role in Munster Reds’ dominant 100-run victory. He started by bowling Jared Wilson and trapping Graham Hume lbw in the 12th over. Returning in the 14th, he took a hat-trick by dismissing Andy McBrine, Robbie Millar, and Josh Wilson.
Speaking to Cricket Ireland, Campher humbly said, “I wasn’t really sure what was happening. I just kind of stuck to my guns and kept it real simple and luckily it kind of went off.”
Only Second Cricketer to Achieve the Feat
While Campher is the first male cricketer to accomplish this, Zimbabwe’s Kelis Ndhlovu became the first ever when she took five wickets in five balls in an under-19 women’s T20 domestic match in 2024.
