Pakistan Suffers First 200-Run+ ODI Defeat to West Indies in 50 Years
Pakistan’s cricket team faced a 202-run defeat at the hands of the West Indies in the third and final One Day International (ODI) of the three-match series held at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba on Tuesday.
Chasing a daunting target of 295 runs, the Men in Green were bundled out for just 92 runs in 29.2 overs. Vice-captain Salman Ali Agha was the top scorer for Pakistan with 30 runs off 49 balls, while all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz remained unbeaten on 23 off 28 deliveries.
A dismal batting performance saw five Pakistani players — Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, Mohammad Rizwan, Hasan Ali, and Abrar Ahmed — dismissed without scoring.
For the West Indies, fast bowler Jayden Seales delivered a remarkable performance, taking six wickets for just 18 runs in 7.2 overs. Spinner Gudakesh Motie claimed two wickets and also took one catch.
Pakistan’s 202-run loss to the West Indies is their heaviest ODI defeat to the Caribbean side in 50 years. Their previous worst loss against them was by 150 runs in the 2015 World Cup. Overall, Pakistan has lost by more than 200 runs in ODIs only four times, with the worst being a 234-run defeat to Sri Lanka in 2009.
