BCCI Officially Lodges Complaint Against Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan

DUBAI – September 25, 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially filed a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) against Pakistani cricketers Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan. The complaint relates to their behavior during the Asia Cup Super 4s match on September 21.

BCCI’s Allegations Against Pakistani Players

According to the Indian board, fast bowler Haris Rauf used offensive language during his fiery spell against Indian openers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma.

The BCCI also accused Sahibzada Farhan of making unsportsmanlike gestures during the same match. Officials claimed that such actions damaged the spirit of cricket and created doubts about the integrity of the contest.

A BCCI representative said: “This behavior undermines the values of cricket and crosses the boundaries of sportsmanship. We have urged match referee Andy Pycroft to take strict disciplinary action, going beyond a simple warning or fine.”

PCB Responds With Counter-Complaint

In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lodged its own complaint against India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav.

The PCB pointed to Yadav’s post-match comments on September 14, where he mentioned the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Pakistani officials said these remarks were political and should not have been made in a cricketing context.

A PCB spokesperson said: “This is yet another attempt by the Indian board and media to exert pressure on Pakistani players and tarnish their image on the global stage.”

Growing Tensions in Asia Cup 2025

The incident adds another layer of tension to the already heated Asia Cup 2025. Matches between India and Pakistan remain high-stakes encounters, both on and off the field.

The ICC has yet to release an official statement on whether disciplinary action will be taken against any of the players involved.
