Waqar Younis shares funny story about how he fooled everyone to sneak out
Legendary Pakistani cricketer Waqar Younis recently appeared on the comedy talk show Hasna Mana Hai, where he shared a funny yet revealing story from his early cricket days.
The former fast bowler, who later became a coach and mentor, talked about the strict discipline set by then-captain Imran Khan — and how he cleverly managed to get around it.
Waqar spoke about the late-night party culture often linked to international players, admitting that “every generation has had its fair share of such moments.”
He explained that during one of the tours, Imran Khan ordered all players to stay inside their hotel rooms at night. To make sure everyone followed the rule, Waqar was made to share a room with a 75-year-old man who always went to bed by 9 p.m.
But Waqar had his own plan. After his elderly roommate fell asleep, he would quietly sneak out to party. When he returned, he adjusted the clock in the room to make it look like he had come back early. “He used to wake up and check the time, and it always looked like I came back early,” Waqar said, laughing.
The audience burst into laughter at his story, which showed the lighter side of cricket life. Waqar’s honesty and humor reminded fans why he’s still one of Pakistan’s most loved cricket legends — not just for his fast bowling, but also for his cheerful and down-to-earth personality.
