Babar Azam Returns to Pakistan’s T20I Squad for Home Series Against South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe

Former captain Babar Azam has made his return to Pakistanโ€™s T20I squad, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled the squads for the upcoming white-ball home series against South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe.

Babar, who last played in T20Is against South Africa in Centurion in December 2024, had been absent from Pakistan’s squad for the series against Bangladesh, West Indies, and the Asia Cup 2025.

For the upcoming T20I series against South Africa, a 15-member squad has been named, while a 16-member lineup will represent Pakistan in the ODI matches against South Africa and Sri Lanka.

In a strategic leadership change, Salman Ali Agha will continue to captain the T20I side, while Shaheen Shah Afridi is set to lead Pakistan in ODIs for the first time. Additionally, Abdul Samad and Naseem Shah have been recalled to the T20I squad, with Usman Tariq earning his maiden call-up. For the ODIs, Faisal Akram, Haris Rauf, and Haseebullah are among those making a return to the national setup.

The three-match T20I series between Pakistan and South Africa is scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi and Lahore from October 28 to November 1, followed by a three-match ODI series in Faisalabad from November 4 to 8. Pakistan will then host Sri Lanka for another ODI series in Rawalpindi from November 11 to 15, before engaging in a T20I tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from November 17 to 29.
