Ali Tareen Tears Apart PCB Legal Notice, Says ‘I Won’t Stay Silent’
Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen has openly defied the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after receiving a legal notice over his recent criticism of the board’s policies. In a fiery video message shared on social media, Tareen made it clear that he would not remain silent about issues affecting the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Ali Tareen Responds Boldly to PCB Notice
Tareen revealed that the PCB had served him a legal notice, demanding that he withdraw his remarks and issue a public apology. The board also warned that failure to comply could lead to the termination of the Multan Sultans’ franchise agreement and blacklisting of its owners from future leagues.
However, Ali Tareen responded in dramatic fashion. On live television, he tore the notice to pieces, saying, “I love PSL — it’s Pakistan’s pride, not just my team’s league. I’m always ready to resolve issues, but no one from PCB has ever come forward to talk.”
Tareen Accuses PCB of Mismanagement
Tareen accused the board of poor communication and mismanagement of franchise relations. He stressed that constructive criticism should not be viewed as disloyalty.
“If team owners can’t raise their voices for PSL’s betterment, then how will the league improve?” he asked.
PCB’s Stance on the Dispute
According to PCB sources, the notice was issued after the Multan Sultans allegedly violated contractual terms and carried out a campaign that, in the board’s view, damaged the reputation of the PSL. Officials hinted that if the team’s response is unsatisfactory, the PCB might proceed with cancellation and blacklisting.
Rising Tensions Between PCB and Franchises
This dispute highlights ongoing friction between the PCB and PSL franchises over revenue sharing and transparency in governance. Insiders say that several teams have raised concerns privately, but Tareen’s public stance has now brought the issue into the spotlight.
Tareen Calls for Reform, Not Conflict
Despite the heated exchange, Tareen clarified that his goal is reform, not confrontation.
“We all want PSL to grow stronger. That requires open dialogue, not threats,” he said firmly.
As of now, the PCB has not issued an official response to Tareen’s comments or the incident.
