Cricket Australia (CA) has confirmed that two members of the Australian Women’s World Cup cricket team were “touched inappropriately” while walking in Indore, India.

According to CA’s official statement, the players were walking to a café when they were approached and harassed by a man riding a motorcycle. The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday morning, just a day after Australia’s six-wicket victory over England in the Women’s World Cup.

“CA can confirm two members of the Australian Women’s team were approached and touched inappropriately by a motorcyclist while walking to a cafe in Indore,” the statement read. “The matter was reported by team security to police, who are handling the matter.”

Local authorities in India have since identified a suspect, according to The Times of India, and an investigation is currently underway.

Cricket Australia has reiterated its commitment to the safety and well-being of its players and staff, ensuring that necessary support measures are in place for those affected.

The Australian team is scheduled to play its final group-stage match of the tournament against South Africa on Saturday before advancing to next week’s semifinal.
