PCB Unveils Pink Kit for First T20I Against South Africa

27 October, 2025 15:41

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has introduced a special pink-themed kit for the national team ahead of the first T20I against South Africa, scheduled for October 28 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The pink kits are part of the PINKtober initiative to raise awareness about breast cancer. “Turning pink for a cause that matters,” the PCB captioned a post on X showcasing players in the new kit.

In addition, the PCB announced that visitors at the stadium can avail free clinical examinations and screenings on October 28, in collaboration with the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Trust Hospital, Lahore.

South African players, match officials, staff, and commentators will also participate in the campaign by wearing pink ribbons. The match will feature pink-branded stamps, and awareness messages will be displayed around the field to highlight the cause.

PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed said, “The Pakistan Cricket Board takes immense pride in using the power and reach of cricket to create awareness about causes that affect our society.” He emphasized that early diagnosis can save countless lives.

This marks the first time the PCB has integrated a breast cancer awareness campaign into an international match, as previous “Pink Day” events were held only during the PSL.

The series continues with the second and third T20Is in Lahore on October 31 and November 1, followed by a three-match ODI series in Faisalabad from November 4 to 8.

Historically, Pakistan and South Africa have played 24 T20Is against each other, winning 12 matches each. In Pakistan, the hosts have triumphed twice in three encounters, while South Africa has won once.

Key performers for Pakistan in the current T20I squad include Babar Azam, who has scored 447 runs in 13 matches against South Africa, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has taken 13 wickets in 12 outings.
