Babar Azam Opens Up About His Dreams and Memorable Moments
Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has shared insights about his aspirations and unforgettable moments in cricket.
Speaking on former England captain Kevin Pietersen’s YouTube channel, Babar stated, “My dream is to win a World Cup for Pakistan.”
Reflecting on his career highlights, Babar Azam described defeating India in the T20 World Cup as a “memorable moment” and added that he is currently working on improving his fitness. He also spoke about reaching the finals in both the T20 World Cup and Asia Cup, but falling short of victory, saying, “I am human, and sometimes we fail, but the important thing is to stay focused.”
Babar expressed his love for batting, noting, “When people call your name on the field, it is a very special feeling for a player.”
During the conversation, Kevin Pietersen asked Babar, in reference to AB de Villiers being his favorite player, “So where do I rank, second or third?” Babar jokingly replied, “No, sixth or maybe seventh,” prompting laughter from both.
He emphasized his dedication to winning trophies for his country, stating, “When you are playing, the good times are very short. My goal is to win a trophy for the nation, and I am working very hard for it.”
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s schedule for the Sri Lanka tour has been announced, with three T20 matches set to be played in Dambulla.
It is noteworthy that in the recent tri-nation T20 series match against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Babar Azam returned to the pavilion for a duck once again. This has made him, along with Saeem Ayub and Umar Akmal, jointly the batters with the most ducks in T20 internationals.
