U19 Asia Cup: Suryavanshi’s 171 Leads India to Big Win Over UAE

DUBAI: Vaibhav Suryavanshi, India’s teenage sensation, in the opening match of the ACC U19 Asia Cup, hammered a 95-ball 171 to lead his team to a 234-run triumph over the UAE, held at the ICC Academy on Friday. 

The UAE cricket team could only muster 179-7 in their allotted 50 overs, chasing a big 434-run set target.

With 78* off 106, five fours, and a six, Uddish Suri continued to lead the UAE in scoring. The other noteworthy player was Prithvi Madhu, who scored 50 off 87 with two sixes and four boundaries.

UAE lost wickets early on in their quest of a difficult target, making it difficult for them to get going. Kishan Singh and Henil Patel, two Indian bowlers, each took a wicket to begin the proceedings.

Early on, they established the ton, and other bowlers did the same. Resultantly, by the end of the eleventh over, half of the UAE’s hitters were back in the pavilion.

After Noorullah Ayobi took three wickets in the thirteen over, India increased their pressure until Uddish Suri and Prithvi Madhu’ 85-run partnership gave them some respite.

But with the asking prices skyrocketing, it was insufficient, and the UAE ultimately lost by a wide majority. In his seven overs, Deepesh Devendran took two wickets for India.

Earlier, India scored 433-6 in their 50 overs after being placed in bat first. With 14 sixes and nine fours, 14-year-old Suryavanshi scored 171 off just 95.

Vihaan Malhotra and Aaron George each scored 69 runs. Suryavanshi and George’s incredible partnership, which saw them add 212 for the second wicket, was the high point of the Indian innings.

Yug Sharma and Uddish Suri took two wickets for the United Arab Emirates in their allotted ten overs. On Sunday, December 14, the highly awaited match between bitter rivals Pakistan and India will take place.
