Strong Global Interest Prompts PCB to Extend PSL Bid Deadline

13 December, 2025 15:00

Due to growing interest from Europe, the US, and the Middle East, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has extended the deadline for bids for the two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises by one week.

The deadline, which was initially scheduled for December 15, has been extended to December 22, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced on his official X account.

“Witnessing growing interest from Europe, the USA, the Middle East, and beyond in acquiring new HBL PSL teams, we have decided to extend the bid submission deadline by one week to 22 December 2025,” Naqvi said.

“Good luck to everyone; excited to welcome our new franchise owners to the HBL PSL family.”

It is important to note that the PSL, which started in 2016 with five teams and then grew to six in 2018, will continue to grow with the addition of two new teams from its forthcoming 11th edition, which will take place the following year.

The PSL will experience its first significant reorganization in seven years with the impending additions, increasing the number of franchises to eight.

In addition, the PCB is scheduled to host a PSL roadshow in additional York on Saturday (today) in order to continue interacting with foreign investors before the January 6 auction of its two additional franchises.

The New York roadshow will also feature Chairman Naqvi, Salman Ali Agha, the captain of Pakistan’s Twenty20 team, Shan Masood, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Saim Ayub, and Saud Shakeel.

Last week, the cricket board hosted a successful roadshow at the famous Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The premier league attracted “unprecedented attention” as many investors showed up to demonstrate interest in purchasing the two new PSL franchises that were for sale.
