First-Ever HBL PSL Roadshow Held in New York

The first-ever HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) roadshow was held in New York, marking a major step in promoting the league internationally. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi attended the event, while six national team players — Salman Ali Agha, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Saim Ayub, Shan Masood and Saud Shakeel — also participated in the roadshow.

Addressing the event, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, said that the Pakistan Super League is rapidly emerging as a global brand. He added that sports serve as an important tool for diplomacy and help promote cultural understanding across nations. PCB Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer said that cricket instantly ignites passion among fans and continues to attract audiences worldwide.

Former captain Wasim Akram said that all players in the PSL play high-quality cricket and that the league provides valuable opportunities for local talent. He added that the PSL also offers great entertainment for cricket fans. National team batter Salman Ali Agha said he played his first PSL season for Lahore Qalandars and that competing in the league makes the transition to international cricket easier. Saud Shakeel noted that guidance from international coaches in the PSL greatly benefits young players.

Former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja described the PSL as an important platform for emerging players and said its success is a source of pride for the entire nation. He called the PSL the best model of a cricket league and said the tournament creates many emotional moments for fans.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that investors in the PSL receive significant benefits and that the PCB and PSL administration are jointly working to improve Pakistan cricket. He praised the talent of young players and said that performance-based rewards motivate athletes. He added that the PSL helps players refine their skills and that transparency remains a key focus in strengthening Pakistan cricket. Mohsin Naqvi reiterated his vision to make the PSL the number one cricket league in the world and announced that bidding for two new PSL teams will take place on December 22, noting that the earlier auction date was December 15.

Meanwhile, in Karachi, a major breakthrough was made in a kidnapping-for-ransom case as three suspects were arrested in a joint operation by the AVCC and CPLC. The kidnapped victim, Muhammad Sufyan from Liaquatabad, was safely recovered. The abductors had demanded Rs 40 million but released the victim after receiving Rs 4.5 million. Police recovered Rs 900,000 from the suspects, who were identified as Mirza Nasir Baig, Zeeshan and Zeeshan Masih, also known as Grande.

In a separate incident in Karachi, one person was killed and another injured in a car collision in the Maripur area.
