ICC Rejects Bangladesh’s Request to Move T20 World Cup Matches from India

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rejected Bangladesh’s request to transfer their T20 World Cup matches away from India.

According to Indian media reports, the request came after Mushfiqur Rahman faced threats from extremist Hindu groups, leading to his removal from the Indian Premier League (IPL). Following this, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sought to shift its World Cup fixtures to another country.

The ICC, however, denied the request, stating that Bangladesh would risk losing points if the team does not travel to India for the scheduled matches.

Bangladesh Cricket has clarified that no ultimatum has been issued. As BCB Director Asif Akbar stated, “Our team will absolutely not travel to India to play the World Cup.”

The decision has intensified tensions between India and Bangladesh regarding cricketing commitments, highlighting the challenges players face amid security and political concerns.
