Karachi Kings share retained players’ amounts before PSL 11 auction
Karachi Kings have announced the retention amounts for their four protected players ahead of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) auction.
The franchise has kept fast bowler Hasan Ali in the Platinum category for Rs 3.76 crore. Abbas Afridi has been retained in the Diamond category for Rs 3.06 crore, while Khushdil Shah has been kept in the Gold category for Rs 3.38 crore. Young wicketkeeper Saad Baig has been retained in the Emerging category for Rs 60 lac.
Before finalizing these retentions, Karachi Kings had placed 16 players across different categories. In the Platinum category, captain David Warner was listed along with Hasan Ali. The Diamond category included Abbas Afridi and Shan Masood.
The Gold category featured players like Aamer Jamal, Irfan Khan Niazi, Mir Hamza, Zahid Mahmood, Omair bin Yousuf, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Arafat Minhas. Mirza Mamoon Imtiaz was listed in the Silver category, while Razaullah, Fawad Ali, and Saad Baig were placed in the Emerging category.
From all these options, Karachi Kings decided to protect Hasan Ali, Abbas Afridi, Khushdil Shah, and Saad Baig as their core players for the upcoming season.
PSL 11 has introduced a big change in the retention rules. Earlier, teams were allowed to retain up to eight players, but now franchises can protect only four players. This has made the decision process more difficult for all teams before the auction.
The first-ever PSL player auction will take place on February 11, while the PSL 11 season will start on March 26 and continue until May 3.
