T20 World Cup: Indian Media Stirs Ban Propaganda as Pak Boycotts India
The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has received more than 100,000 ticket requests for the upcoming Pakistan–India match, highlighting massive public interest in the contest.
The match will be played at R. Premadasa Stadium, which can host only 35,000 spectators.
Due to limited seating and overwhelming demand, all tickets have already been sold out, days before the match.
Match Scheduled for February 15
The highly anticipated clash between Pakistan and India is scheduled for February 15 in Colombo.
Officials say the response from fans has exceeded expectations. Concerns have also been raised about tickets being resold on the black market at higher prices.
Pakistan Given Clearance to Play
Earlier this week, Pakistan’s federal government formally allowed the Pakistan Cricket Board to take part in the match.
The decision followed discussions involving the International Cricket Council, which addressed Pakistan’s concerns related to recent developments in the tournament.
ICC Eases Tensions Over Bangladesh Issue
The ICC confirmed that it would not impose any financial penalty on the Bangladesh Cricket Board, despite Bangladesh’s absence from the T20 World Cup 2026.
Officials said the matter was resolved through dialogue, with stakeholders agreeing to focus on the long-term interests of international cricket.
An ICC representative described the situation as “disappointing but manageable” through cooperation and mutual understanding.
Regional Support for the Fixture
BCB President Md Aminul Islam thanked the PCB for its support during the dispute. He also urged Pakistan to play the February 15 match for the benefit of the sport.
Sri Lanka, as co-host of the tournament, welcomed Pakistan’s participation. Officials said the decision would help restore stability and confidence in international cricket.
With tickets sold out and excitement building, the Pakistan–India clash is expected to be one of the most watched matches of the tournament.
