Is YouTube hiding skip button on ads?

YouTube has addressed concerns that it removed the “skip” button for ads, clarifying that the feature remains available despite visual changes to the ad interface.
Recent adjustments sparked user worries that the platform was hiding or eliminating the skip option.
Some desktop users noticed a black rectangle replacing the countdown timer for skippable ads, while mobile users reported no skip option.
However, YouTube spokesperson Oluwa Falodun stated that the platform is merely experimenting with the ad interface to reduce clutter and create a “cleaner” viewing experience.
YouTube’s ongoing changes include:
– Increased ads, such as on the pause screen.
– Reduced content creator control over ad placement.
– Crackdown on ad blockers.
While YouTube Premium offers an ad-free option, its increasing cost may deter users from subscribing.
