Apple set to switch to in-house Wi-Fi chip and Bluetooth for iPhone, smart home

Apple is all set to switch to a homegrown chip for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections for its devices from 2025.
The move will phase out some parts currently supplied by Broadcom to Apple.
The chip, code-named Proxima, has been under development for several years and is now slated to go into the first iPhones and smart home devices produced next year.
A report said that the iPhone maker’s in-house chips will be produced by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.
Apple, at its annual developer conference in June, said that it plans to use its own server chips to help power artificial intelligence features on its devices.
The move is not part of Apple’s reported plans to launch its long-awaited series of cellular modern chips in 2025 that will replace components from longtime partner Qualcomm.
A Bloomberg report said, however, the two parts will eventually work together. Apple did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
