TikTok fined $10 million over deadly video challenges
The Supreme Court of Venezuela has fined TikTok $10 million for not taking action over the deaths caused by the content of the video challenges.
According to foreign media, the top court of Venezuela imposed a fine of $10 million on TikTok over the issue of killings while fulfilling challenge videos on the social media app.
According to the report, three minors have allegedly died in the race to fulfill TikTok challenge videos in Venezuela, and in this regard, the court said that the app has not taken any steps to stop or remove the content.
The court decision does not mention how TikTok should pay the fine, while app officials have not yet responded to the decision.
Last November, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro blamed TikTok for the death of a 12-year-old girl who allegedly took part in a TikTok challenge that required her to take tranquilizers but not sleep.
