WhatsApp to roll out Reverse Image Search to combat misinformation
Instant messaging application WhatsApp is working on a new Reverse Image Search feature for its users and has given access to limited users as a trial.
Through this feature, the users will be able to know the origin of any image by uploading it directly from the app to Google.
This feature is being developed specifically to better identify fake or misleading content, so that users can assess the authenticity of shared images and get more information.
Earlier, a news was circulating that WhatsApp has started testing the feature of scanning documents and photos for the convenience of users.
After which the trial of ‘image reverse search’ has also been started on this application and in this regard specific users have also been given access to it.
According to Webeta Info, a website that provides information about WhatsApp updates, the users will be able to easily find images like Google reverse image under the above feature.
Under the feature, as soon as users click on the desired image, the web version will automatically open on the mobile or desktop, where other images and posts similar to the image will be displayed.
