Apple denied permission to sell iPhone 16 in this Muslim country
Apple could not get permission to sell the iPhone 16 series in Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim country by population.
It should be noted that at the end of October 2024, the Indonesian government banned the sale and use of the iPhone 16 series and Apple Watch 10 series in the country.
The reason for the ban is Apple’s failure to fulfill investment commitments in Indonesia.
In the past, the American company had promised to invest more than $100 million for research and development centers in Indonesia.
But only $9.5 million was invested by Apple and the Indonesian government banned selling and using iPhone devices.
Now, a new report from Bloomberg has revealed that Apple has offered to invest a total of $1 billion, including the establishment of an Airtag manufacturing factory, to end the ban.
But Indonesia has described this investment as insufficient to lift the ban.
