Sharks now facing extinction

Fish sharks, a symbol of fear for humans, are now in danger of global extinction, due to overfishing.
A team led by researchers discovered that the number of sharks is decreasing on a large scale and it will not be enough to release the sharks caught to prevent this decline.
The findings, published in Fish and Fisheries, highlight the importance of combining different strategies to monitor shark populations and manage their numbers.
Although some fisheries rely on sharks for their products, the risk factors for extinction are much higher.
Darcy Bradley, co-author of the study, said that more than half of the sharks trapped in fish hunting accidentally fall into the trap and die. And then they are destroyed.
