Here’s how you can maintain Android and iOS battery health

23 March, 2025 20:00

The batteries of smartphone have got a lot larger during the last few years, but be it Silicon-Carbon or Lithion-ion ones, their maximum capacity wears down with the passage of time.

Here are tips you can follow to keep your smartphone battery in a good condition daily.

Try not to clear recent apps

We often head over to smartphone’s recent apps screen to remove them from memory to stop them from running in the background and consuming power. However, the most modern iOS devices and Android have good memory management as they automatically freeze a background app or put them in deep sleep.

It means if you remove an app from the background and reopen it, the system will use power compared to if you left it in the background.

Don’t charge when doing heavy tasks or gaming

A simple way to keep your battery in good shape is avoid charging when you are doing some heavy tasks or gaming.

It should be noted that any electronic component, especially batteries, heat is the biggest cause of wear and tear. Charging process warms the phone and if you do some intensive tasks, your device will heat up a lot faster. This will lead your battery to degrade quicker than normal.

Limit Active apps

Unlike normal background apps, these active apps keep running behind the scene always, even if you clear them from the memory. This might be the reason why your battery is draining abnormally.

You can quickly, on Android devices,  see these by opening the quick settings tile, tapping on the three dot button and clicking on ‘Active apps’.

You also see a ‘Stop’ button, which quickly lets you stop these apps until they are launched again or you restart your phone.

Don’t use smartphone a lot when its hot outside

Try not to use your phone outside when it’s extremely hot weather as the device itself may heat up quickly.

It is happened in hot areas where the mercury is over 40 degree Celsius.

The chipsets of phones already generate a lot of heat. It is amplified when you use the device for a while in hot environment.
