Gmail Users Get Big Free Update This Week

Millions of Gmail users are getting a big free update this week. Google confirmed the news in a blog post. Many changes are coming for people using Gmail on iPhone and Android devices.

First, iPhone users will notice a new look when they open Gmail. The new design matches Google’s Material Design 3 update. It now looks similar to Gmail on the web and Android phones. Some changes include pill-shaped buttons at the bottom and a rounded search bar at the top of the app.

Next, there is exciting news for Android fans. Gmail is getting better for tablets and big-screen phones like the Galaxy Fold and Pixel Fold. Google has added new draggable dividers. This feature lets users choose between a one-pane or two-pane view. You can also control the width of each pane when in two-pane mode.

Another cool feature is coming to both Android and iPhone users. Google is bringing its Gemini image creation tool to the Gmail app.

“Now you can generate images using Gemini directly on your mobile device,” Google explained. Once you create an image, you can save it, copy it, or insert it into a draft email.

There is also an update for Google Calendar on iOS. Last year, Android users got the ability to create and edit birthday events in Calendar. Now, this same feature is available for iPhone users as well.

There is no exact date when all users will get these updates. However, Google said the new features are starting to roll out now. They will be available for Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and people with personal Google accounts.
