What was India’s S-400 air defence system that Pakistan destroyed in operation Bunyan un Marsoos
The Pakistan Air Force has destroyed India’s powerful S-400 air defence system. The strike happened in Adampur and was part of Pakistan’s ongoing military operation called Munyan un Marsoos.
The attack was carried out using hypersonic missiles launched by Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder fighter jets. The S-400 was one of India’s most expensive and advanced defence systems, worth about $1.5 billion.
What Is the S-400 System?
The S-400 is made by Russia. It is one of the best missile defence systems in the world. It can shoot down many types of threats such as:
Enemy fighter jets
Cruise missiles
Ballistic missiles
The system includes three key parts:
Missile launchers
Strong radar systems
A command control unit
The S-400 can spot and shoot targets from as far as 600 kilometers. It can hit almost all modern warplanes.
India bought five units of the S-400 from Russia in October 2018. The total deal cost was $5 billion. This system is so powerful that even NATO sees it as a major threat.
More Pakistani Strikes
Pakistan also destroyed an Indian Military Intelligence centre in Rajouri. This centre was allegedly involved in planning attacks against Pakistan.
Another strike damaged India’s Sirsa Airfield, which is a major military base. Indian media has confirmed this damage.
Drones Over Gujarat
Pakistani drones were seen flying over Gujarat, the home state of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This raised alarms across the region.
