20 May, 2025 18:09

Elon Musk’s satellite internet service, Starlink, officially launched in Bangladesh on Tuesday. The goal is to provide fast and reliable internet across the country, even during political troubles or natural disasters.

Muhammad Yunus, who is currently leading the government after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country during violent protests last year, said Starlink’s arrival will ensure uninterrupted internet access, no matter the situation.

Starlink announced on social media that its high-speed, low-latency internet is now live in Bangladesh.

According to Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, a special assistant to the chief adviser:

  • Two packages are available: Starlink Residence and Residence Lite

  • Monthly cost: 6,000 taka for one, and 4,200 taka (around $35) for the other

  • One-time cost for setup equipment: 47,000 taka

  • Both plans come with unlimited data and speeds up to 300 Mbps

People in Bangladesh can now place their orders for Starlink service.

Starlink is growing fast and currently works in over 70 countries, with a special focus on expanding in developing nations like Bangladesh.
