How to Solve Severe Battery Drain Issue on Android Devices?

An increasing number of Android users have recently reported rapid battery drain linked to Instagram, with the issue appearing especially problematic for Google Pixel phone owners. Many users noted that their devices were losing charge quickly, even when the app was not actively in use.

In response to user concerns, a Google representative confirmed on the Android support forum that the battery drain was caused by Instagram. The app’s developers acknowledged the bug and released an update to address the problem.

Instagram Releases Fix for Battery Drain with New App Update

Community manager Adil Sheikh responded to the battery drain issue on Android, revealing that the new version of Instagram, labeled 382.0.0.49.84, was designed to fix the excessive power usage. He encouraged users to ensure they have the latest version installed to restore normal battery performance. The issue was traced to a persistent background process in the previous version that significantly drained device power.

The fix is currently being rolled out through the Google Play Store. Users with automatic updates enabled may have already received it, while others are advised to update manually.

Instagram has previously faced criticism over high resource usage due to features like video autoplay and background syncing. However, this recent surge in power consumption raised fresh concerns due to its severity.

Experts emphasize the need for regular app optimization, especially as Android systems and hardware continue to evolve. Users are also encouraged to monitor battery usage through their device settings to detect abnormal activity.
