Google Photos adds voice control for image editing

22 August, 2025 13:46

Google has added a new feature to Google Photos that lets users edit pictures with just their voice. Instead of tapping through different tools, you can now describe the edit you want, and the app will do it for you.

For example, you can say, “remove the cars from the background” or “enhance this old picture” and Google Photos will instantly make the change. If you’re not sure what to ask, simply say “improve it” and the app will automatically enhance the photo.

The feature can handle many types of edits, such as fixing lighting, removing unwanted objects, changing or adding backgrounds, and even inserting fun items like sunglasses or a party hat.

This voice-powered editing tool will first launch in the United States on the new Pixel 10 phones. Google also confirmed that Pixel 10 will include C2PA content credentials, which show if AI was used to edit any part of the picture.

The company says this feature will soon expand to more Android and iPhone devices in the coming weeks.
