Instagram and Spotify introduce new music sharing features
Instagram and Spotify have teamed up again to make sharing music with friends even easier and more fun.
With the new update, when you post a song from Spotify to your Instagram Story, it now includes a short snippet of the track. Anyone watching can tap the Story and open the full song directly in Spotify. This makes Stories more interactive and turns them into a quick way to discover new music.
Sharing is simple—just open Spotify, pick your song, hit “Share,” and choose Instagram Stories. That’s it.
Instagram has also upgraded its Notes feature with deeper Spotify integration. Now, when you add a song to a Note, it updates automatically every 30 minutes with whatever track you’re listening to. Friends can tap your Note and instantly add that song to their own Spotify playlists, making it a more personal and engaging experience.
Spotify has added a Notes icon in the sharing options too, so you can post songs to Instagram with fewer steps.
These updates are designed especially for Gen Z and younger users who use Instagram to show what they’re into. It gives songs more visibility, makes discovery faster, and adds a playful element to music sharing in real time.
Meanwhile, YouTube Music is also rolling out new features to attract younger listeners, but Spotify’s strong partnership with Instagram keeps it ahead in the game.
The new Instagram-Spotify features are already live on both iOS and Android.
