Pakistan’s IT Exports Jump 13% in August 2025
Pakistan’s information technology (IT) exports grew by 13% in August 2025 compared to the same month last year. According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the country earned $337 million in IT export remittances, up from $298 million in August 2024.
However, on a month-to-month basis, exports fell slightly. In July 2025, IT exports stood at $354 million, which means August saw a 5% dip.
Experts say this drop was due to seasonal effects, fewer working days, and some delayed client payments. Still, they stressed that the overall growth trend remains strong.
During the first two months of the current financial year (FY26), Pakistan’s IT exports reached $691 million, showing an 18% rise compared to $584 million during the same period last year. IT now makes up nearly half of Pakistan’s total services exports, making it the biggest contributor to this sector.
Analysts highlight growing global demand for software development, IT-enabled services, and freelance work from Pakistan. They believe that even with short-term ups and downs, the industry is on a steady upward path.
Technology exports are playing a key role in supporting Pakistan’s economy, especially as other services like transport and travel remain stagnant.
Experts say that with the right reforms—such as tax incentives, smoother payment flows, and better digital infrastructure—the IT sector has the potential to bring in more than $5 billion a year.
