WhatsApp Introduces Message Translation Feature to Break Language Barriers

24 September, 2025 15:41

WhatsApp has officially launched its much-anticipated message translations feature, making communication across languages easier for millions of users worldwide.

“If you see a message in a different language, you can now simply long-press and tap ‘Translate’. Choose the language you want the message to be translated from or to, and download it to be saved for future translations. This works for 1:1 chats, groups, and Channel updates too,” the company stated in its blog.

Android users will have an added advantage, as they can enable automatic translation for entire chat threads, ensuring all future incoming messages in that conversation are instantly translated.

Highlighting privacy concerns, WhatsApp assured users that translations are processed on their devices, meaning “WhatsApp cannot see them.”

“Android users will find it available in six languages: English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic. For our iPhone users, the feature will launch in 19+ languages,” the platform confirmed.

With this update, WhatsApp aims to bridge communication gaps by allowing users to engage more seamlessly with friends, family, and communities around the world.
