GO-OZ VR sandal prototype unveiled at Tokyo Game Show 2025

A new VR device called GO-OZ is offering gamers a fresh way to move inside virtual worlds. Instead of using joysticks or teleporting, the GO-OZ turns natural foot movements into smooth in-game locomotion.

The device, shaped like a sandal, was showcased as a prototype at the Tokyo Game Show 2025. Players who tried it found it surprisingly easy to use. Leaning forward made the character walk, shifting back made it reverse, and tilting the feet allowed navigation—all without needing to move around the room. This makes it ideal for people with limited space.

What Makes GO-OZ Different
Unlike simple step trackers, the GO-OZ is built with advanced sensors inside a thick, soft sole. These sensors can detect foot pressure, rhythm, step length, and weight shifts, allowing precise control that feels more natural than using a joystick.

The sandal straps over regular shoes and has a cushioned base, making it comfortable for long sessions. By relying on subtle shifts instead of full walking, it reduces physical strain while still giving an immersive feel.

Challenges Ahead
As a prototype, the GO-OZ still faces hurdles before reaching the market. To feel natural, it needs almost zero latency—any delay or wrong reading could cause discomfort or motion sickness. Durability, compatibility with different headsets and games, and long-term performance are also key challenges.

There is no confirmed release date or pricing yet. However, GO-OZ already holds an international patent for its wearable VR locomotion system, which is jointly owned in Italy, the EU, the USA, and China.

If successful, GO-OZ could become a breakthrough device for VR users, especially those looking for a more natural, space-saving way to move in virtual worlds.
