New iPad Pro Models Announced by Apple, Equipped with M5 Processor
Apple has unveiled a significant refresh of its iPad Pro lineup, introducing the latest 11-inch and 13-inch models equipped with the cutting-edge M5 chip. Complementing this processing powerhouse are the N1 wireless chip and C1X modem, enhancing connectivity speed and reliability.
M5 Chip: A Leap Forward in Processing Power and AI Capabilities
The newly introduced M5 chip, which also powers the 14-inch MacBook Pro and Apple Vision Pro, boasts a 10-core CPU architecture comprising four high-performance cores and six efficiency cores—Apple claims these are the fastest performance cores ever engineered. The 10-core GPU integrates neural accelerators across all cores, while the memory bandwidth surges to 153 GB/s, significantly elevating multitasking fluidity and graphical output.
Relative to its predecessor, the M4, the M5 delivers up to four times the artificial intelligence performance. It accelerates ray tracing for 3D rendering by 1.5 times and improves video transcoding speeds in Final Cut Pro by 20%. These advancements reinforce the iPad Pro’s status as an indispensable device for creative professionals and demanding users.
Enhanced Display and Memory Specifications
The new iPad Pro models now extend support to external monitors with refresh rates up to 120 Hz and introduce Adaptive Sync (Variable Refresh Rate) compatibility, ensuring smoother visual experiences. Memory configurations have been upgraded: the 256GB and 512GB variants now come with 12GB of RAM, an increase from the previous 8GB, while the 1TB and 2TB models retain their 16GB RAM allotment.
Improved Wireless Performance and Charging Speeds
Incorporation of the N1 networking chip and C1X modem—first featured in this year’s iPhone series—delivers enhanced wireless throughput and more stable network connections. Charging technology has also been advanced to match the iPhone 17’s rapid charging standards. Utilizing Apple’s 40W Dynamic Power Adapter (capable of delivering up to 60W), the 11-inch iPad Pro achieves a 50% charge within 30 minutes, with the 13-inch model reaching the same milestone in approximately 35 minutes.
Retained Design and Pricing Structure
Despite these internal enhancements, the iPad Pro retains its established design language and display technology. It continues to offer the Tandem OLED Ultra Retina XDR display, 12-megapixel front and rear cameras with Center Stage, a quad-speaker audio system, and Thunderbolt/USB4 connectivity.
Pricing remains consistent with the prior generation, starting at $999 for the 11-inch model and $1,299 for the 13-inch. Cellular-equipped versions begin at $1,199 and $1,499, respectively.
