22 October, 2025 12:50

OpenAI has launched its new AI-driven web browser, ChatGPT Atlas, designed to revolutionize online navigation by integrating advanced artificial intelligence into browsing. The ChatGPT Atlas browser leverages ChatGPT’s technology to offer users powerful features such as content summarization, data analysis, and enhanced control over their online activities, all accessible via an embedded ChatGPT menu.

As shared by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, ChatGPT Atlas is now available globally on macOS, with upcoming releases planned for Windows, iOS, and Android platforms. With features like Agent Mode, the browser is positioned as a direct competitor to industry giant Google Chrome, offering tools for tasks such as product research, making reservations, and automating various online functions.

The long-anticipated launch follows months of speculation, with OpenAI previously hinting at the development of an AI-powered browser to improve the ChatGPT user experience. For now, ChatGPT Atlas offers a free version with core features available to all users, while some advanced functionalities may require a subscription.

In a similar move, AI platform Perplexity has introduced its own Comet browser, available for both Windows and Mac users. Both ChatGPT Atlas and Comet are vying for dominance in the emerging AI-powered web browser market, blending features like real-time summaries, task automation, and enhanced privacy controls. According to industry experts, these browsers represent the future of digital navigation—an era where AI assists users in every step of their online journey.

The highly anticipated Windows version of ChatGPT Atlas is expected to expand its reach, making the innovative browser accessible to a broader global audience.
