Google Chrome Users Warned: Urgent Update Needed to Fix Dangerous Bug

If you are among the 3.5 billion people using Google Chrome on Windows, macOS, Linux, or Android, caution is advised. Google has rolled out another emergency security patch within a single week to address a severe vulnerability that exposes users to remote code execution threats.

The flaw, identified as CVE-2025-12036, exists within Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine. This loophole enables attackers to execute malicious code on a user’s device simply by luring them to a compromised website — requiring no further action from the victim.

According to Srinivas Sista, a member of Google’s security team, the vulnerability was discovered by the company’s AI-powered defense system, “Big Sleep.” Google has deliberately withheld detailed information about the exploit to allow users sufficient time to apply the patch before malicious actors can take advantage of it.

The update has already been deployed for all supported platforms and will automatically reach users worldwide over the coming days.

Steps to Ensure Protection

To safeguard against potential attacks, users should ensure their browsers are updated to the latest versions:

• Windows and macOS: Update to version 141.0.7390.122 or 141.0.7390.123

• Linux and Android: Update to version 141.0.7390.122

Although Chrome generally updates automatically, users can perform a manual check by navigating to Settings → About Google Chrome, where the newest version will be installed automatically.

It is essential to relaunch the browser after updating; otherwise, the newly applied security patch will not activate. Since cyberattacks exploiting this flaw are already underway, users are strongly advised to update immediately to protect their devices and personal data.
