Why Google is Offering Its AI Pro Plan with 2TB Storage for Free?

08 November, 2025 12:29

Global tech giant Google has partnered with India’s Reliance Jio to give its AI Pro plan free for up to 18 months to eligible Jio users. The plan includes 2TB of cloud storage across Google Drive, Photos, and Gmail, along with access to advanced AI tools.

What the Free Plan Includes

Eligible users can use Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro AI model and generative media tools. These include Nano Banana, for image creation, and Veo 3.1, for video generation. The total value of the offer is around ₹35,100 (about PKR 117,585) for 18 months.

Who Can Get It

Early access is for Jio users aged 18–25 with unlimited 5G plans priced at ₹349 or higher. Google plans a wider rollout to more users in the near future.

Strategy Behind the Offer

Google is not just giving away its AI Pro plan randomly. This promotion is designed to:

  • Build long-term user engagement in India.

  • Encourage more people to use Google AI tools.

  • Support India’s goal to become a global AI leader.

Analysts say combining Jio’s large subscriber base with Google’s AI infrastructure will help both companies grow and attract younger users, especially students.

Global Push for Accessible AI

India is not the only country seeing free or low-cost AI offers. Google has launched AI Plus subscriptions in over 40 countries starting at USD 5 per month. In Pakistan, students can access a 12-month free Google AI Pro plan, launched in August 2025. This program aims to help students learn AI, develop critical thinking, and prepare for careers.

Supporting AI Education

These initiatives align with Google’s global mission to democratize AI. The company has also invested $1 billion in AI literacy programs in the U.S. and offers free AI training via Google Career Certificates.
