Spotify adds new feature for WhatsApp status sharing

Spotify has introduced a new feature that allows Android users to share music, podcasts, and audiobooks directly to their WhatsApp status.

With this update, anything you share—like songs, playlists, or podcasts—appears as a graphic card showing the title, cover photo, and an “Open on Spotify” button. People who view your status can even listen to a short preview without leaving WhatsApp.

This new option is part of Spotify’s effort to make music sharing a normal part of everyday communication. The platform already supports sharing to Instagram Stories and Notes, and Spotify also plans to add sharing options for TikTok and Snapchat in the future.

The WhatsApp status sharing feature is available for both free and premium Spotify users. It is being rolled out globally in phases, and you can access it through the Share menu inside the Spotify app.

Along with this update, Spotify has launched weekly listening statistics. These stats show how many hours you listened during the week and highlight the new artists or genres you discovered. Users can also share these stats on WhatsApp and Instagram.

Since WhatsApp statuses are widely used to show moods and daily activities, adding music, podcasts, and audiobooks gives users more creative ways to express themselves. Overall, the new feature aims to boost engagement and make sharing audio content more fun and interactive.
