AMD has made a big announcement at CES 2026 in Las Vegas with the launch of its new gaming processor, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D.

This new CPU is the direct upgrade to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. While the overall design stays the same, AMD has increased the speed to improve gaming performance.

AMD confirmed that the Ryzen 7 9850X3D will be released in the first quarter of 2026, but the company did not share the exact launch date or price.

Ryzen 7 9850X3D Key Features

The Ryzen 7 9850X3D is an 8-core processor made especially for gamers. It uses AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology, which helps deliver higher frame rates in games.

The biggest upgrade is the clock speed. The processor can boost up to 5.6GHz, which is faster than the previous model’s 5.2GHz. The base speed is 4.7GHz, and it has a 120W power rating. It also comes with a small integrated Radeon graphics unit.

The new processor arrives at a time when DDR5 RAM prices are very high due to supply shortages. A basic DDR5 kit that once cost around $90 is now selling for over $360. This has increased the overall cost of building a PC.

Despite the high prices, AMD is continuing to support the AM5 platform. Based on past prices, experts believe the Ryzen 7 9850X3D will be a premium-priced gaming CPU.
