Snapchat introduces creator subscriptions for top snap stars

Snapchat adds subscriber-only mode to Share 'Real' content
Snapchat is launching a new subscription-based monetization model for its top creators, allowing select Snap Stars to earn recurring revenue directly from fans within the app.
This move follows similar trends on other platforms that are exploring ways to pay creators. With this update, top creators who post regularly can now monetize based on their audience’s attention and engagement.

According to Snapchat’s newsroom, “Snapchat has always been about connection, and creators are driving that more than ever.” In Q4 2025, Snapchat reached 946M monthly active users, with U.S. Snapchatters posting to Spotlight growing 47% year-over-year, showing the growing creativity and engagement on the platform.
The new Creator Subscriptions build on existing monetization options like the Unified Monetization Program and the Snap Star Collab Studio. They add a premium layer to how Snapchatters already interact with creators across Stories, Chat, and replies.
The goal is to strengthen creator-fan relationships while providing a steady income stream that isn’t fully dependent on advertising or brand deals. The feature is designed to feel natural for creators, without requiring them to create separate monetization setups.
Subscribers will get access to exclusive content, such as subscriber-only Snaps and Stories, and will receive priority replies to public Stories, increasing chances of direct interaction. Paying fans will also enjoy an ad-free experience within the creator’s Stories.
“Creators can set their own monthly pricing within Snap-recommended tiers, giving them the flexibility to define the value of their community,” Snapchat said.
Initially, the program will be available only to Snap Stars, Snapchat’s top creators or verified public figures. Snapchat has not specified an exact eligibility threshold, allowing them to choose which creators to invite. This controlled rollout reflects Snapchat’s focus on quality, scale, and sustained engagement, rather than opening the program to all users.
Creator Subscriptions expand on Snapchat’s existing revenue-sharing program, which allows eligible creators to earn from mid-roll ads in Stories and Spotlight clips. However, the ad program has high entry requirements, including tens of thousands of followers and significant monthly view time, reinforcing Snapchat’s focus on top-performing creators.
Starting February 23, Snapchatters in supported markets on iOS can subscribe to participating creators like Jeremiah Brown, Harry Jowsey, and Skai Jackson. Snapchat plans to expand Creator Subscriptions to more users, creators, and devices in the coming weeks.
