Pakistan IT Exports Surge 20% to $2.6 Billion in First Seven Months of FY26
Karachi, February 19, 2026 – Pakistan’s information technology (IT) exports increased by 20% year-on-year (YoY) to reach $2.6 billion during the first seven months of FY26, according to a report issued by Topline Research on Wednesday.
In January 2026, the country recorded IT exports worth $374 million, reflecting a 19% YoY increase. However, exports declined 14% month-on-month (MoM) compared to December, which analysts attributed to seasonal trends and delayed payments from certain foreign markets.
Net IT exports — calculated after subtracting sector-related imports — stood at $314 million in January, marking a 12% YoY increase. This highlights the IT sector’s growing contribution to Pakistan’s external accounts.
The government has set an ambitious FY26 target of $5 billion in IT exports. However, Topline Research projects export growth of 18% to 20%, which would bring total receipts to approximately $4.5 billion, compared to $3.8 billion in FY25.
Under its medium-term development strategy titled ‘Uraan Pakistan’, the government aims to increase annual IT exports to $10 billion by FY29. This target requires a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 27% over the next three years.
Analysts believe achieving this goal will depend on consistent policy support, improved digital infrastructure, and stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to maintain global competitiveness in software development and freelance services.
