Samsung Users on Red Alert: check your Galaxy phone now or face ‘real risk’

18 September, 2025 11:49

Samsung has issued an urgent warning on Monday, September 15, 2025. The company confirmed that a new security patch is live for Galaxy devices after hackers were found to be exploiting a critical flaw.

Why Samsung Users Must Update Immediately

The update fixes more than 11 issues, but one of them has been marked as “critical.” According to Samsung, the bug is already being used by attackers in the wild.

The flaw, found in libimagecodec.quram.so, allows hackers to run malicious code on a device. This means criminals could install malware, steal personal data, or even take full control of the phone without permission.

Expert’s Warning

Jamie Akhtar, CEO of CyberSmart, explained that this is a serious threat. He said:

“Samsung has patched a vulnerability that could let attackers remotely run harmful code. With Samsung’s huge user base, leaving this unpatched puts millions at risk. Users must update immediately to stay safe.”

Which Samsung Phones Are Affected?

The latest update is available for Galaxy devices that still receive monthly patches. If you own any of these models, you should check your settings right away:

  • Galaxy Z Series: Z Fold4, Z Flip4, Z Fold5, Z Flip5, Z Fold6, Z Flip6, Z Fold7, Z Flip7, Z Flip7 FE

  • Galaxy S Series: S21 FE 5G, S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE, S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge

  • Galaxy A Series: A56 5G

How to Install the Samsung Update

If you own one of these phones, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Open Settings

  2. Tap Software Update

  3. Select Download and Install

Samsung also advises charging your phone before starting the update to avoid interruptions.

Samsung’s Statement

A Samsung spokesperson said:
“At Samsung, we take security and privacy issues very seriously. Securing your device and maintaining the trust you place in us is our top priority.”

If you have a Samsung Galaxy phone, do not delay this update. Installing it now could protect your data, your privacy, and your entire device from hackers.
