PTA Mobile Registration Suspended: DIRBS System Offline on 6–7 December
PTA revised charges for Radio-Based Services
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced a temporary suspension of mobile registration.
The Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) will be offline from 10:00 PM on Saturday, 6 December, until Sunday evening, 7 December 2025. During this downtime, all device verification, registration, and blocking operations will be unavailable.
The suspension is part of scheduled maintenance coordinated with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). PTA has urged users with new or imported mobile devices to complete registration before the maintenance starts to avoid service interruptions. Phones that remain unregistered during this period cannot be activated or blocked until the DIRBS system resumes.
Officials confirmed that the temporary downtime will improve system performance and ensure smoother operations. The DIRBS system is responsible for tracking mobile devices, blocking unregistered phones, and enforcing compliance with import and taxation regulations.
PTA advised schools, offices, and individuals who rely on mobile services to plan accordingly. Users are also warned not to purchase unregistered devices during the downtime. Once the system resumes on 7 December, all registration and verification services will return to normal.
