Toni Kroos set to retire from football after Euro 2024

Toni Kroos, Real Madrid’s star midfielder, has announced that he will retire from football after the conclusion of Euro 2024 which will be played between June and July in Germany.

The German superstar will play his last game for Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund at the Wembley Stadium on June 02.

Kroos, who joined Madrid in 2014 from Bayern Munich, has decided to retire at the age of 34.

Moreover, his last La Liga game for Los Blancos will be against Real Betis on May 25.

“Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and affection to Toni Kroos, a player who will go down in Real Madrid history as one of our club and international football’s greatest legends,” Real Madrid said in the statement.

Since arriving at the club in 2014, he has won 22 titles in his 463 appearances: 4 European Cups, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 4 LaLiga titles, 1 Copa del Rey and 4 Spanish Super Cups.

Apart from the success with Real Madrid, he won the World Cup 2014 with German National Team in Brazil.

With Bayern Munich, he won 1 European Cup, 1 Club World Cup, 1 European Super Cup, 3 Bundesliga titles, 3 German Cups and 2 German Super Cups.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has said that, “Toni Kroos is one of the great players in Real Madrid history and this club will always be his home.”

Real Madrid wishes he and his family the best of luck in this new chapter of his life.

The 34-year-old will go down as one of the greatest players in Real’s history, having recorded 28 goals and 98 assists in 463 appearances for the club across all competitions.
