Family pay tribute to ‘Layton Carr’ killed in fire

Family pay tribute to 'loving boy' killed in fire
The family of 14-year-old Layton Carr, who tragically died in a fire at an industrial estate in Gateshead, has paid a heartfelt tribute, calling him “a kind, caring and loving boy.”
The fire broke out on Friday evening at a building on Fairfield Industrial Park in the Bill Quay area of Gateshead. Emergency services responded to the scene, but Layton sadly died at the site.
Northumbria Police have arrested 16 children — 11 boys and 3 girls aged 11 to 14, along with 2 more 12-year-old boys — on suspicion of manslaughter. All of the children have since been released on bail as the investigation continues.
In an emotional statement, Layton’s family said:
“Layton was your typical 14-year-old lad, a cheeky, happy lad. Despite his cheeky side, Layton had an absolute heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.”
The police and fire services are continuing to examine the cause of the blaze. Detectives are urging anyone with information or video footage to come forward to help with the investigation.
This is a developing story, and more updates are expected soon.
