Russia Offers Elon Musk Asylum After Fallout With Donald Trump

06 June, 2025 18:25

After a public argument between Elon Musk and Donald Trump, Russia has stepped into the spotlight. The country has now offered political asylum to the billionaire Tesla CEO.

It has been a dramatic week for Musk. He was pushed out of the White House inner circle. His long friendship with Trump ended. To make things worse, Tesla’s stock dropped sharply, losing billions in value.

Russia Steps In During Musk-Trump Feud

As tensions grew between Musk and Trump, Russia saw an opportunity. The Kremlin offered support to Musk, just as his political troubles in the U.S. began to grow.

Dmitry Novikov, a top Russian lawmaker, made the offer. He is the First Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

Novikov said, “I think Musk is playing a completely different game… I do not think he will need any political asylum, but if he does, Russia could provide it.”

Why Would Elon Musk Need Asylum?

This unexpected offer came after Musk publicly criticized Trump’s spending bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination.” Trump responded harshly and accused Musk of betrayal.

Their feud has become major political news. Some Russian leaders believe Musk’s bold views have made him a target in the U.S. That’s why Novikov suggested Musk might need protection — even though he also said it’s unlikely.

What Does Russia Gain From This?

Russia often tries to use U.S. conflicts to its advantage. By supporting Musk, Russia shows it is watching U.S. politics closely. The offer also shows how the Musk-Trump feud has grown beyond business and into global politics.

Musk has not responded to Russia’s asylum offer. But his silence speaks volumes as his influence and fame continue to rise — and divide.
