PM Shehbaz Hails PIA Privatization as “Major Economic Milestone”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan has achieved another important milestone in its economic reform journey, following the successful completion of the first financial phase of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) privatization transaction.

In a statement shared on social media, the prime minister said that management control of the national carrier has been transferred to the investor consortium, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the airline. He added that the investment would help modernize and stabilize PIA, laying the foundation for its revival.

Shehbaz Sharif said the successful privatization has strengthened investor confidence in Pakistan’s economy. He praised Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Privatization Adviser Muhammad Ali, and the Privatization Commission for their efforts. He also acknowledged Field Marshal Asim Munir and relevant institutions, saying their professionalism and commitment made the achievement possible.
