CPPA-G demanded Nepra Rs4.66/unit in fuel cost adjustment in jan 2024

Nepra on Wednesday conducted hearing on fuel cost adjustment (FCA) of Rs4.66 per unit presented by Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G).

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G) demanded on behalf of DISCO’s for charging the electricity consumers of all over Pakistan for Rs4.66 per unit increase in fuel cost adjustment (FCA) during the month of November 2023 for getting a sum of Rs33.9 billion in January 2024.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G) which is reponsible for buying the electricity for DISCO’s said that the Rs4.66 per unit FCA is billed due to plants were operated in Novmeber 2023 on RLNG which is comparatively expensive to other fuel sources.

Nepra observed that the Thar coal-based plant’s maintenance-related closure identified as a contributing factor to the escalated electricity prices.

The data submitted by the CPPA-G with Nepra indicated that net electricity delivered to DISCOs in November 2023 was 7,288GWh (96.57%) at a rate of Rs9.4448 per unit, with the total cost amounting to Rs68,834 million.

The Nepra has completed the hearing on the CPPA’s request for an increase of Rs4.66 per unit in the price of electricity on account of FCA and it will issue a decision after reviewing the data.
