Google launched search trend for Pakistan’s General Elections 2024

Google launched a dedicated trend page for Pakistan’s February 8, General Elections for helping media and general public accessing relevant data.

General Elections page in Google trend is the tool which exhibits the top search queries, topics, and interests in the different political parties contesting the elections.

The page also includes data on the top election-related topics searched in each part of the country, such as the economy, taxes, and wages, among others,” said the tech giant.

Pakistan will go to the polls on 8 February 2024 for its general election. Here’s what people are searching for ahead of the vote.

It  displays Search interest in selected parties in past 14 days, PK as of the total election related searches ;

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) was searched 77% ,
Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML N) 14%,
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) 3%,
Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) 2%
Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM – P), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI – F), Jamat-e-Islami (JI) were searched 1% each from google users.

Google published ‘Top (5) election questions’ in the past 3 months searched by Pakistanis.

4 How many parties were elected for the election?
5 Who will win the 2024 election in Pakistan?

Google clarified that the Google Trends Pakistan General Election page is not a poll or survey and does not reflect voting intentions.

It only reflects people’s search interest in particular topics at a local level over a period of time.

Google clarified that a spike in a particular search query does not reflect that a political party is somehow “more popular” or “winning”.

Google in disclaimer said the Search data is not an indicator of voter intention.

Most searched topics in Pakistan 2023

In 2023 the top (5) five searches in Pakistan were Immigration, Health care, Climate change, Corruption and Foreign policy, Google trends revealed. Interestingly, Pakistan was among the top 10 countries searching for foreign policy in 2023.
